They have said she needs blood transfusions etc, this could last weeks/months or even years. Does anyone have any information or similar experiences? Please provide me with these details. It’s very sad and heartbreaking as she lost her husband last year with a rare blood disease. Her paralyzed state began with her arms and she is unable to feed herself or go to the toilet it then went in to her legs leaving her unstable and she could lose full use. They have told her it is a rare allergic reaction from her flu injection. Is this right? Please can someone answer or help.

I have a situation…I have 2 children one which had a liver transplant when he was 4 months old, due to a VERY rare liver disease called tyrosinemia type 1, we were told if we ever had any more children that there was a 1 in 4 chance that they would also have this condition. I have spoken to some families that also have other children with this disease and 2 families of 4 have 3 children with this…….so, would you take the chance of having another baby that would possibly have the same thing……for the people that know about NTBC, it didn’t work for my son and I really don’t have much faith in it for a treatment.
Just incase anyone doesn’t understand what Tyrosinemia is…..it’s a rare condition where Tyrosine an amnio acid in ALL protein can not be digested which then makes the liver and kidneys have toxic waste to digest and they are unable to which then in turn leads to liver failure and possibly kidney damage or failure

Has anyone ever heard of a very rare disease called calfa ostosis or something of the sort. My 15 month nephew has a lump on his lower leg and it is swollen and becoming red. he seen a speacialist who says that he may have this extremely rare disease but I can not find and information on it and unclear as to what it means, causes and cures ect.

I know that in theory, it’s possible, but would it be in the disease’s best interest? I heard in biology and anatomy classes that viruses and bacteria don’t want their hosts to die. They want to keep their hosts alive as long as possible so that they can feed off of them as long as they can. If a person or animal were to die too quickly, the disease would find a more compatible host. So, wouldn’t a highly contagious fatal disease stop before it wiped everyone out?
I know that these diseases did kill a lot of people, but they stopped short of killing everyone, and then became relatively mild, and didn’t kill as many people.

yeah.. its a rare disease and incredibely i got it when i was 10 years old! now im 15 ive lived with it 5 years of my life and i see cells flying in my eye! cool huh? lol
