rare disease
sister_goldenhair

i am 31 year old married woman. normally healthy. for the last 2-3 months, been having strange symptoms. swollen nodes in neck and one in armpit, they kinda hurt at times. kinda off balance feeling, like spaced out feeling, happens at random times during the day. my right foot gets hot flashes randomly, like internal heat feeling. NO fever or night sweats or itching or weight loss. actually gained like 4 pounds. all these symptoms had sudden onset after period of great mental stress in my life. i am looking for a job and having a hard time finding one. having no problems sleeping. i have been to 3 doctors, and all 3 DO NOT think it is cancer. they said the nodes felt benign and were moveable. but what could it be? i am worried sick and have depression. please help me…

No one on here is going to be able to help you. They should refer you to a rhuemotologist ( sorry about spelling) . They are specialized in the area of finding rare diseases and symptoms.

Honestly, you might be sensing some early symptoms of menopause. It just sounds like your body is reacting to an overload of physical and mental stress. Seems normal to me. Just try to find more time to relax.

you need to see a specialist to see what symptoms are! keep trying until you get right doctor! good luck! sometimes, depression itself can cause weird physical symptoms!

Please find another doctor and have them test you for Lupus. My cousin has it and the symptoms sound very familiar, especially the swollen nodes and weight gain. I believe it’s something more than stress. It’s a very treatable disease, but you need to get it taken care of if that’s what it is…you need to find out WHAT it is ASAP. I wish you the very best. :)

i think that you need to get a councelor or something. do something that makes you happy. idk, what’s your favorite thing to do???

the job, think about what you’re good at and what you enjoy…that’ll help kinda.

the nodes might be caused from stress, but i don’t know if it’s possible or not, probably is. i know sum1 who was really stressed and thought she had cancer, but when she felt better they were gone.it may just be a coincedence

You are worried sick and have depression.
The amount of worrying that I believe you are in can be detrimental to your health, and all that stress can actually slowly kill you, if not shorten your life span. Try to calm down, get one of those stress squishy things, and think positively. Talk to your doctor about your depression, and try to get more sleep at night. Eat big breakfasts and, if necessary, see a psychiatrist to sort out your problems.

Not even the Doctors would know 100% what is wrong until you have the scans that show the problem……..I cant believe one of 3 Doctors did not send you for a scan…They then can follow up with needle biopsy if warrented……so go back or go to a reputable one…..

Fourth opinion..if you believe you have something going on, you need to pursue it. Try contacting your state university’s medical system–they would be a good starting point..

Its difficult to say for definite, it could be from a mild infection but without a biopsy its difficult to be sure. Get a biopsy. It will give you peace of mind. Once glands swell they take months to go down. It is all very reassuring that your doctors do not think this is anything to worry about. Its also good that you do not have any symptoms typical of cancer such as the night sweats and weight loss.
Ask for a biopsy, it will but your mind to rest once and for all.
    Good luck, and stay positive.

This could be psychosomatic, or caused by the mental stress you have been experiencing. This does not make you problem any less real though. I would suggest talking to someone like a theripist about you problems and figuring out solutions. If you are still worried about a disease I would see a specialist.

Some have swollen nodes in the armpit when they’re almost having their menstruation… As for the neck, are you sure you didn’t have it in a time when maybe you had some kind of infections in your mouth, like soremouth, etc? Are your swollen nodes permanent?

The best thing is consult another doctor. I hope you find a good one. Good luck on that. God bless you!

I heard about this guy on the news or something last night that heard everything that he did like when his eyes moved in the socket he heard it in his head and when he chewed it echoed right back again! He went to three doctors and had about three surgeries but none of them were for the right reason. Then he went to a doctor at John Hopkins University and the doctor simply typed in the guys symptoms and found out exactly what he had. He had surgery again and was cured after living with it for about 22 years!
I know this isn’t your problem but what I’m trying to say is that you should do the same and look online until you find similar problems. Tell your doctor about this and hopefully it will solve your problem.

You would be surprised what depression can do to your body. It can and will give you symptoms like what your talking about. It can affect your body in a lot of very non-desirable ways. Get help for your depression and you body will heal itself. This seems to be the underlying condition. Now with the onset of the physical problems as you already know now your depression will also get a little worse. This is because of the worry about your health. It is a slow train to unhealthy living. Seek help with a professional. I know from experience that you can over come this. There are plenty of programs out there as well as doctors who can help alleviate your condition.

This question looks awfully familiar. And like the other similar question you have not said what all 3 doctors thought this may be, only what it isn’t. I think this IS the same question posted again.

Instead of asking us what it could be, ask the 3 doctors who examined you.

I doubt very much that you are slowly dying of a rare disease.

It is normal and human to overly worry over one’s own health and think they worst, particularly now that with Internet, access to health information providing the opportunity to self-diagnose is so easy.

Having said that, you’ve been to 3 doctors who have all told you that it’s not cancer. Obviously you want to know more, i.e. – what is it? and not been given a clear answer. Keep going back to your family doctor and get specialist referrals until you’ve gotten a satisfactory answer. Sometimes you have to be very persistent to get the health care you feel you need. However, be aware as well that medicine is not an exact science even today, and sometimes there is no answer, it may be a condition unique to you, and once all possibilities are ruled out and the condition is established as benign, you may have to live with it.

I have had swollen nodes in my neck at various times for no apparent reason, saw a doctor once, was advised it was nothing to worry about, and went on my merry way. Haven’t had them now for years – have moved on to other health issues (all of them about as equally serious, too, thank goodness).

I am not a doctor, but I would venture to guess that the doctors are right, these node issues are a temporary anomaly and it will sort itself out gradually as you get back on your feet in other aspects of your life as well. Excess worrying after 3 doc’s have given you a clean bill of health isn’t going to help.

What you have is depression and possibly anxiety, it does feel like you are dying and you feel sick all the time, see your doctor and tell him your symptoms and that you are depressed and anxious, then s/he can prescribe medication that might help you. (I have depression and anxiety)

Stress and worry can make u up tight. See another doctor to do with putting ur bones in shape…

  28. lorraine12937 on December 25th, 2009

if the dr, says its not cancer tell him to do tests to find out what is wrong .
please quit worrying that makes it worst.
