Can dogs spread disease to humans?
Michael J
I’m just recovering from a flu, and my dog has to go in tomorrow to get his allergy shots. The vet says I have to administer a shot every other day for a few weeks, however, my dad hates pets and says if I go, I will get sick again or catch a disease from being around the dog. Is this true. Any advice?

I doubt it. Dont worry, you will be fine. That just sounds stupid. I am with my pets when I am sick, doesnt make it worse.
Dog diseases stay with dogs, they don’t transfer to humans. However PARASITES can and do transfer to humans–if given a chance. Ringworm, fleas, tapeworm, etc.
All those can be treated for, of course, they’re just inconveniences. BUt if your dad is thinking you’ll catch parvo or such from him, it won’t happen.
Tell him it’s like catching cancer or a broken arm–it’s not possible.
there are many diseases you can catch from dogs, but you are unlikely to catch anything by going to the vet office or giving allergy shots.
There are some illnesses that can be passed from animals to humans and vice versa (called zoonoses), but if your dog is just suffering from allergies, you really have nothing to worry about. If you’re concerned, wash your hands thoroughly after interacting with your dog, before eating or touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
