If you found out your unborn baby had a disease would you choose an abortion or not?

I’m pregnant and my daughter tested positive for Tay Sachs disease and I’m not sure what to do. My little sister was tested positive for Tay Sachs and my mother decided to carry her to term but for some reason she never began to show the symptoms of it as a small child like everyone expected. She’s 16 now and very bright and seems perfectly normal. The doctors think the symptoms will probably start up eventually though as late onset. But this is very rare and most of the time a child who tests positive for the disease gets the symptoms eary and dies by age five. I’m not sure what to do about my baby, I love her but I don’t want to see her die a horrible death.

My 5 yo nephew was diagnosed with Fifths disease. The weekend before he was diagnosed I was around him and even let him share my drink. I waiting for my blood test to let me know if i am immune or if I currently have it. I know that it is rare for it to effect a fetus, but I am still worried. Has anyone ever gone through this?

Do you think I should have a C-section or vaginal birth?

Ok, so I’m not actually pregnant yet, but my boyfriend and I are discussing having children in the near future. Anyway, I have this rare eye disease where I have abnormal blood vessels in my eyes that can burst and cause my eyes to bleed internally when there is pressure or strain put on my head. I then have to have expensive laser surgery to stop the bleeding, and it could still do serious damage to my central vision and will leave a permanent blind spot. Because of this I have been told I should have c-sections when I have children. The problem is, having one totally freaks me out. I have always wanted to have several children and I have always wanted to deliver vaginally without an epideral (I have a high pain tolerance and think it would be fine). The thing is, if I do this there is the risk to my eyesight. Is there anyone out there who has maybe delivered both ways and could give me a comparison? The thought of a c-section really freaks me out, so I could use some reassurance!
Thanks for the responses so far! The other concern that I had about the c-section is that I really don’t want to be out of it when the baby is born. I would like to be able to see my child and be able to care for the baby as soon as possible, and I also worry that I will miss out on things if I go the c-section route. I’ve had surgery 2x before and I was really out of it for quite a while afterward! Is this usually the case with c-sections as well?
