Dogs are remarkably clean. Rabies is the only disease usually associated with them. Of course, like humans they can get the ticks of lyme disease of carry germs on their coat if exposed to human excreta.

Transmission of a disease from an animal to man is called zoonosis. A number of infectious diseases can be transmitted from dogs to humans if the dogs are carriers or infected with the pathogenic (disease-causing) microorganism e.g. bacteria, viruses, fungi, worms. Examples of the diseases that can be transmitted from dogs to humans include rabies, toxocariasis, and others. However, if the dog was investigated and immunised by vets, and hygienic measures have been taken to prevent possible disease, the dogs shall be safe. well, some dogs can get rabies which can kill you if not treated if you are bit. they can also carry tics which can transfer onto you and make you sick, but if you take proper care and get them their shots and pills then there is nothing to worry about.

There are a number of conditions that dogs CAN carry that can effect humans. However, if the dog is healthy and caught up on his shots, there is little chance of any such condition developing, much less being passed.
