Mermaid syndrome. That I am aware of, there is only one published case in recent history. That case has been featured on the discovery channel, where I first heard about it. A few years after the birth, the family was also featured on Oprah. I dont have time to search for it, i am on my way out, but you should be able to google mermaid syndrom and find the case.
There are dozens. Run a search for “rare diseases” and/or “bizarre diseases”. By the way, mermaid syndrome is sirenomelia and is not a disease. Complex partial seizures are neither rare nor bizarre. Hantavirus is a type of virus and shouldn’t be confused with Hantavirus infection.
Not so much rare anymroe but extremely underdiagnosed.
Celiac DIsease
U could play up the aspects of untreated Celiac such as infertility and cancer.

I went to the hopital for repetory poblems they decide to do byopcy of my lungs something went terribly my husband was told to tell relatives and friend i was dying and they couldn’t get my vitals under control so I was given last rights
i was at the legacy park hospital hooked up to all kinds of life support machines.to this day they can’t tell me what i have it is starting to come back you might be able to get some information the hospital is located in tualin or
When I was in my late 50′s I started having headaches, I had never had them before. I saw several doctors who really didn’t diagnose any thing, just suggested over the counter headache remedies. We had jusr moved to a new area in the Texas Hillcountry, and so I asked a new friend to recommend a doctor. She did, and he literally saved my life! He suspected ‘Temporal Artiritis’ and performed a biopsy of my temporal arteries, I had a classic case of the disease. I was on a lot of Prednisone for quite awhile, and my Dr. still tests my SED rate, which is still another indication. I am fine now, but I read up on it and was, frankley, scared to death of what might happen. If you have unexplained sevsere headaches
you can always check for this disease. I don’t know how common it is, but you can look it up on Google.
