How good was Tony Baltazar? He lost his only title attempt, 8/11/1990 against Hector Camancho?

HIs son died of a rare blood disease at age five. He has devoted himself to finding a cure for this. It seems too bad that such a stand up guy never achieved his goal.

Baltazar’s best punch was his left hook, which helped him to win thirty fights by knockout and an additional eight by decision. He did lose to some of the other top fighters (Hector Camacho, Buddy McGirt, Carlos “Bolillo” Gonzalez, Howard Davis Jr.), but he was also the second guy to ever beat Roger Mayweather which shows that he really was an upper level fighter.

I’m didn’t know about his son before. I’m sorry to hear that. He’s not one of those boxers that will be forgotten, though. In fact, I think I’ll watch one of his fights tomorrow night. :)

What a good man he is and very noble. Tony was a very good fighter and highly ranked and had to be good to be worthy of a title fight,
