I have to do a report for class and I need to figure out a disease I would want to know about. I dont want to do the basica ones that everyone knows about. Do anyone have any one in mind? The one I would really like to do is the one on the man with the warts i believe its the half man half tree. The thing is i dont believe that came up with a name for it yet. If no one seen it go on yahoo and type in half man half tree.

What you are looking for is immune deficiency syndromes. Lots of people get warts, even children and even if we do nothing about it, our immune system should be able to clear it completely within 5 years ( but warts may appear on other nearby sites). You need to search for immune deficiency that affects ability to fight viral infections. If you want more info on warts, look under human papilloma virus or wart virus

The NIH’s Office of Rare Diseases states that, “an orphan or rare disease is generally considered to have a prevalence of fewer than 200,000 affected individuals in the United States”.
Some rare diseases /disorders are given below.
Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PD) deficiency is a hereditary, sex-linked enzyme defect. It results in the breakdown of red blood cells when the person is exposed to certain drugs or the stress of infection.
Hemophilia refers to a group of bleeding disorders in which it takes a long time for the blood to clot. This may cause abnormal bleeding. In most cases, the disorder is passed down through families (inherited) and most often affects males.
Pica is an appetite for nutritive substances (e.g., coal, soil, chalk, paper etc.) or an abnormal appetite for some things that may be considered foods, such as food ingredients (e.g., flour, raw potato, starch).

You are correct, they haven’t got a name for what that poor fellow is suffering. Not yet anyway. It’s some kind of keratin overgrowth but they’re still treating him to see what works.

However if you want a really messed up disease to write about, try Ankylosing Spondylitis.
