I got gum disease. and I’m worried?

rare disease
La La La, Elmo’s World Keheh

I’m only 16 and I have a horrible gum disease. The dentist today said I have a lot of tarter and they massed-clean out my teeth, (which the gum still hurts). I don’t smoke, but I eat unhealthy food. I do brush my teeth (2-3 times a day), but flossing is kinda rare… He’s told me that I may not have any more good teeth by the time I read my dad’s age (he’s 40…)… I’m like “Ok.” Now what?!

What is Frieberg’s disease? (i need a lot of answers please!)?

rare disease

I know I already asked this, but I only received one answer, so I wanted to get some other opinions, possibly professional or from people who have experienced this? Thanks!

I am an active, track-running thirteen year old girl. In April I started having moderate to severe pain in my second metatarsal on my left foot. Today (its July now) I finally saw a pediatrist. He took one look at my X-rays and immediately diagnosed me with Frieberg’s Disease. I sort of understand what it is, but…..
-What exactly IS it?
-Will I have it my whole life or just until I reach skeletal maturity?
-Will it get worse?
-Will it get better?
-Will I be able to run without making it worse? (i love running so much I could never give it up!)
-Is there any treatment besides surgery or an orthotic?

Please just tell me anything and everything you know about this rare disease!!! Thank you

I love germs, but don’t know what to do as a career involving them?

♥♥♥

I love learning about pathogens, and microbiology has really interested me for a long time. However, the part that interests me the most is what the pathogens actually do to the body…not so much there structures, etc. I like working with microscopes in labs, but I think it’s much more interesting to see and treat people who actually suffer from rare diseases. In the field of Microbiology, I know that it’s a lot of research work…and I’m very social and couldn’t work alone with a microscope all day. I want to be a part of the process and being there in front of patients that have rare and weird diseases and help treat them…or at least do something like that. In other words, I want to work with microbes as a career, but I don’t want to research all the time and sit with a microscope all day!! I’m a student currently, and have been thinking about a career choice…I love medicine…and I just don’t know where my love affair with germs fits into all of this. Any answers would be nic

What determines if one of the “flesh-eating” bacteria inflicts toxins that eat up muscle?

I mean a lot of the bacteria strains capable of this are common bacteria that cause other diseases but don’t cause flesh eating syndrome most of the time. What sets off the bacteria in rare instances to release toxins to destroy muscle tissue?
