” In autoimmune diseases there is a failure to recognise some part of self. Such autoimmunity may be restricted to a single organ, a localized region or the whole animal. The consequences may vary from minimal to catastrophic, depending on the extent to which the body is affected. In autoimmune disease pathologic signs are seen as a result of the autoimmune response. Frequently more than one autoimmune disease will be seen in the same animal, as well as an increased susceptibility to bacterial infection” a disease that is known to affect canines is effective to ALL canines.
Both humans and animals (dogs) can have auto-immune diseases. If you suspect your dogs has an auto-immune disease you should contact your vet immediately. I am assuming you have a cocker spaniel? A cocker spaniel is no different to any other dog and can die of almost anything that other dogs die of – hopefully old age.
You really need to be more specific in your question.
Any dog can have autoimmune diseases and any dog can die of a million different things. Autoimmune diseases are those diseases where a being’s own immune system sees normal parts of the being’s body as foreign and will ‘attack’ these parts in an effort to eliminate them. The immune system is what all beings have that will produce factors that fight off diseases, infections and that sort of thing — autoimmune disease is where the body mistakes normal stuff for foriegn stuff and destroys or tries to destroy it. There are many different types of autoimmune disorders so there is no way of knowing specifically what you are discussing. Any dog, breed or mix, can have an autoimmune disease – some deadly some not…
I’m not technically sure… but it is genetic we had a boxer puppy that almost died from one. Our vet took her home with him .she was sick for a long time, but she lived .
we had her spade when the Dr said she was well enough.
I blame the breeder.
The number one in cockers is autoimmune hemolytic anemia.
Yes they can. Please take your dog to the vet
