At first I heard that the mother gave birth to a snake because of his scaly skin and red eyes.I went to see at you tube and It really looks like a snake(almost).I wonder if this is a rare skin diseases or just mysterious.if you want to see it for yourself, go over to youtube and search for ‘anak ular’ which meant serpent child in malaysian language.

    Rare Skin disease.

    Actually called Harlequin type ichthyosis.

This is a disorder that causes extreme thickening of the kerotin layer of the skin…this causes extreme contraction of the skin around the body, and results in thick “scales” of skin broken by red fissures. Most infant with this condition do not survive. It is an inheirited malady, very rare, and so sad for the families impacted

There are several forms of ichitosys, harlequin being the most severe. There are several places that have information online about it, but this site from the UK has a lot of helpful information.

In it’s less rare or severe cases, it can be aquired, but in most cases it is inheirited. So sad for the parents, when they lose a child to this cruel disease.
