What is this disease called?

rare disease
Brittany

I recently got a shot, and I forgot what it is called. It’s very rare, and usually high schoolers get it. And, if you don’t treat it, you could die, or you can develop a disability.

It starts with an M, and thats all I know.

    Mononucleosis?

It’s often shortened to “mono” and nicknamed the “kissing disease”.

That’s all I can think of with the information you’ve given.

There are several diseases that start with M: Mumps, Mono, Measles. All can be very serious, and even fatal, if contracted as a teenager, and can be much more serious for adults. But I think the disease you are referring to is Meningitis.

This is a very serious, highly contagious disease. It is an infection on the lining of the brain and, if not treated, can cause permanent brain damage or death.

It is more common in children and teenagers, but anyone can catch it. The shot you got was probably to immunize you against it.
