What should my 59 year old father, diagnosed with an auto-immune disease, do to get help?

rare disease

In December, my father was diagnosed with a rare auto-immune disease. Are there government programs, private funding, experimental drug trials, or something he can do to live off of? He was denied disability.
They didn’t know what kind of auto-immune disease. In fact they don’t know what is causing it. It must be so rare or at least in Arkansas where we live.

Sleep Optimization Program.

Yes, what is the name of the disease? You can also do searched online for this. There is so much info on things like that, that you yourself can learn a lot to help him.
I’m sorry you are both having to go through this. Once you know the extent of what it is, you can go after it as well demand help for it.

If you write back more info, the name of it, then we can try to help more efficiently. They must have some idea of what it is or related to:: chronic fatigue syndrome, lyme, lupus, blood diseases, lou gherigs, MS, fibromyalgia, etc..details would help>
    good luck.

I have an autoimmune disease myself. It is called Systemic Lupus Eryathematosis (SLE). The many symptoms when Lupus is active are: joint pain, pericarditis (fluid in sac around heart), fluid in sac around lungs, kidney involvement, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, sometimes a butterfly rash across the bridge of the nose and tiredness. Very hard disease to diagnosis as it won’t show up in the blood test unless the Lupus is in an active stage. This is why so many people are misdiagnosed when they have lupus. Also, lupus is more common in females but there are many cases of men having the disease. I am sure this is some very overwhelming information for you but be assured it is very treatable. You need to find a good doctor. Autoimmune diseases are usually treated by Rheumatologists. It would help to know some of your father’s symptoms as I also have family members you suffer from other autoimmune diseases. Please feel free to contact me if you would like more information.

My wife has MS and we found a product called Kallwalla at Organichope.com. It is supposed to help regulate the bodys
immune system to keep it from attacking itself.
we haven’t been on it too long so I can’t tell you how it works yet.
