Would you sacrifice your own life for a cure for all human diseases forever, would you honestly do it?

human disease
G-man

Aids, cancer, alzheimers, parkinsons, leukemia, etc – all gone forever and for every human being.
As a twist, would you sacrifice a loved one’s life (spouse, child, sibling, parents) in order to “save the world” ?

In a heartbeat. And I would ask God why he didn’t do it first.

No, disease is a fact of life, and no-one should mess with mother nature.

  7. niko on December 1st, 2009

Nope I wouldn’t. I don’t think I would sacrifice my life for anything or any reason.

Not unless a close person has that illness…I have to be honest but without such a cause I won’t have the urge.

I’d like to think I would.

A lot of very brave people before us have knowingly and voluntarily sacrificed their lives for some greater good; it would be rather humbling not to live up to an easier standard.

But we don’t know really know until we’re in the clutch.

Yeah, greatest good. Plus it’s not like you only live once.

I would in a heart beat, the reason is I never want my daughter to go through anything like i did!

Even if that were possible, I’m not sure it would be a good idea. It wouldn’t be the natural way, and it would bring a whole new set of problems to the world, in addition to compounding ones that already exist… like over-population. So I suppose my answer is “no”. :) However, I would like to think if the time came and I could sacrifice my life for something important, that I would be able and willing.

No way. I’m number 1. Honest answer, Humanity is not as important to me as I am.

What does my life means compared to others who are suffering from those diseases. I would glady do it if it will make an end to all human sufferings.

  16. randomnight on December 15th, 2009

Frankly, I probably wouldn’t do it… and I doubt that many others on the board would do it either when faced with the proposition. Why?

    Who would believe it?

How many people would actually believe this question if a real doctor came up to them in a hospital and asked? How many people would believe it if it was even a cure for all the diseases up to 2010? Even if it was actualy possible, I don’t think I would believe it. Not only that, who would say that once the cure was created, it would be used for what it was intended? Would this cure ‘cost’ people a literal arm and a leg to pay for obtaining this cure?

I would sacrifice my own life but I dint have the right to make that decision for anyone else.

  18. dial.margo on December 17th, 2009

To cure all human diseases, I would ABSOLUTELY sacrifice myself!!!!

“Greater love hath no man than this, than to lay down his life for a friend,” Jesus said.

Yes, I would, if my death and the death of my family would end the world’s suffering. Theoretically speaking, of course. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t, because there would still be sin in the world. Sin, apathy, ignorance, hate, and neglect are far more serious illnesses.

  20. parugeorge on December 21st, 2009

Most willingly I would sacrifice myself. You can never “sacrifice” any one else other than yourself. You have no right.

  21. Flo on December 24th, 2009

I been close enough to spit in death’s face twice – once a climbing fall & the second metastatic cancer – & while accidents are accidents, I would do anything to prevent my son & family from having to suffer as I did w/illness. So, yes, I believe I could willingly let go in order to relieve my family (and in so doing, the world) from such misery. Besides, sometimes there are worse things than dying.

Read the information on my page. No need to sacrifice anything
just some time and effort like I do to let people know that their is
    hope in nutrition.

  23. alice b on December 28th, 2009

ONLY SOMEONE NUTS WOULD ASK SOMETHING LIKE THAT..———BESIDES DISEASE IS BIG BUSINESS–DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE THAT WOULD PUT OUT OF WORK??????IT WOULD NEVER BE ALOUD TO HAPPEN–DO YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO THE WORLD????????IT WOULD BE SO OVERPOPULATED IT WOULD CAUSE MASS STARVATION AND MURDER.WHICH WOULD U RATHER LIVE IN A WORLD WITH DISEASE OR A WORLD THAT IS EVEN MORE OF AN ABSOLUTE MESS

  24. fonzie1956 on December 30th, 2009

THAT REALLY IS A HARD QUESTION I HOPE I WOULD BE STRONG ENOUGHT TO DO IT .

  25. Allie M on January 2nd, 2010

    WOW! That’s a tough question!
Honestly…. Would like to think I would but can not be 100% certain.
One thing for sure… I would love to enjoy my grandkids as long as possible!
